Justin Guthrie

Justin Guthrie is a recent graduate of Northeastern with a Bachelor’s in Data Science and Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing Analytics, and a particular interest in GIS and geospatial analytics. He has always had a passion for internationalism, embarking on his first semester in Rome, Italy and completing the International Baccalaureate program prior to college. His first co-op was at Keolis Commuter Services, focusing largely on data architecture, data science, and more conceptually, rail transportation planning. His work led to the database foundation for the South Coast Rail in Greater Boston. His second co-op built on this geospatial awareness as an Informatics Co-op at Northeastern University, where he organized GIS Day to celebrate the use of GIS across Northeastern University’s global campuses, garnering over 200 online and in person attendees. Justin’s research thus far has been two-fold: firstly, he assisted the African Built Heritage Hub, focusing on the digital preservation of sub-Saharan architecture in Porto-Novo, Benin. Secondly, he works with the Sustainability Data Science Lab, drafting theoretical service extensions for Amtrak, with the goal of maximizing both resilience to weather extremes and population served. When not working, you can find Justin at a metal show, relaxing in a cafe, or exploring Boston and beyond.
