Scott Pickens is currently a Senior Fellow and Advisor to both the Defense Industrial Base Institute and the Global Resilience Institute at Northeastern University.
The Defense Industrial Base Institute is focused on rebuilding the U.S. defense industrial base to meet modern global security strategic military challenges while the Global Resilience Institute focuses on helping communities and enterprises enhance their resilience against all forms of natural and man-made disruption.
Pickens is also a Venture Partner with Stony Lonesome Group LLC focused on finding and growing young enterprises with high potential dual use products and services supporting the national defense agenda and economic growth.
With over 35 years of entrepreneurial and operational experience in the technology, energy, financial, and healthcare industries Mr. Pickens is a senior executive with an extensive track record building and growing enterprises focusing on strategic planning/policy, administrative and financial operations, marketing, information technology, and program/product management functions. He has held numerous “C” level senior executive positions in commercial and publicly funded organizations, consulting & services firms, and manufacturing companies. His broad and deep operational and technology systems experience provides a unique, comprehensive, and visionary understanding of how the multiple players and stakeholders across industries operate, interoperate, collaborate, and compete. His executive and industry expertise has enabled him to build several successful new businesses and lead them to achieve the next level of value, performance, and growth including IPO’s on the NASDAQ and New York Stock Exchanges.
Scott is a proud US Navy veteran (Nuclear Engineering Officer) having served during the Viet Nam era and through the cold war.
Scott is a guest lecturer in entrepreneurial studies and business operations at Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg FL. He previously taught as an adjunct instructor at Barat College in Lake Forest IL and was guest lecturer at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He is an entertaining and informative speaker, educator, researcher, and published author on a variety of healthcare, information management, and executive management related topics.
Pickens holds a degree in nuclear engineering from the US Navy Nuclear Power School in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin as well as in Business Science from the University of Wisconsin.
